OraSure Announces Senior Management Promotions
P. Michael Formica has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Operations of the Company. Mr. Formica served as OraSure's Senior Vice President, Operations since May 2000, and has recently assumed overall supervisory responsibility for the Company's Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance Departments.
Mr. Formica was instrumental in helping the Company obtain FDA approval and a CLIA waiver for its OraQuick(R) Rapid HIV-1 Antibody Test. Prior to May 2000, Mr. Formica served in various senior management positions with Drager Safety AG&Co. KGaA, the world leader in chemical detection systems for the international safety market and breath alcohol detection equipment.
Jack E. Jerrett has been promoted to Senior Vice President and General Counsel of the Company. Mr. Jerrett served as OraSure's Vice President and General Counsel since joining the Company in November 2000. Prior to joining OraSure, Mr. Jerrett served as Associate General Counsel and Senior Counsel at PPL Electric Utilities Corporation since July 1998.
Prior to joining PPL, Mr. Jerrett served as Senior Corporate Attorney at Union Pacific Corporation and as an Associate with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius.
Mark L. Kuna has been promoted to Vice President and Controller of the Company. Mr. Kuna previously served as Controller of the Company. Prior to joining OraSure in October 2000, Mr. Kuna served as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis at XO Communications.
Prior to that, Mr. Kuna was Vice President and Principal Accounting Officer for Wedco Technologies, Inc. and an accountant with Deloitte & Touche LLP. Mr. Kuna is a Certified Public Accountant.
Keith W. Kardos, Ph.D., has been promoted to Vice President, Research and Development of the Company. Dr. Kardos joined the Company in January 1994, and has been instrumental in the commercialization of the Intercept(R) oral fluid drug testing system. More recently, he was heavily involved in the development and receipt of FDA approval of the OraQuick(R) Rapid HIV-1 Antibody Test.
