OraSure Technologies to Defend Patent Infringement Lawsuit

BETHLEHEM, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2008--OraSure Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSUR) announced that it has received a complaint from Inverness Medical Innovations, Inc. (AMEX:IMA), Inverness Medical Switzerland GmbH and Church & Dwight, Co., Inc. (NYSE:CHD), filed in the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, alleging that the manufacture and sale of the Company's OraQuick ADVANCE(R) Rapid HIV-1/2 Antibody Test infringes U.S. Patent No. 6,485,982. OraSure Technologies believes that none of its products, including the OraQuick ADVANCE(R) Test, infringe the patent or other intellectual property rights of any party. The Company also believes that the asserted patent is invalid and intends to defend this lawsuit vigorously.
