| Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P. Elects Cropper and Edwards to Board |
| PHILADELPHIA, May 2, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- The general
partner of Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P. (NYSE: SXL) today announced that
Stephen L. Cropper and Gary W. Edwards have been elected to its board of
directors, effective May 1, 2002.
Cropper is currently a private investor. From January 1996 until the time of his retirement in December 1998, he served as president and chief executive officer of Williams Energy Services, a diversified energy company. During his 25 years with the Williams Companies, Cropper was responsible for the acquisition of MAPCO, Inc. and served as president of Williams Pipe Line Company from 1986 to 1998. In addition to serving on the Sunoco Partners board, he is a director of: Heritage Propane, the nation's fourth largest retail propane company; QuikTrip Corporation, a large convenience store chain; Berry Petroleum, a California heavy oil producer; Rental Car Finance Corporation, a division of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group; and Fuel Spot, a leading internet portal for transactions and other services for refined petroleum products. Cropper also has been a past chairman of the Association of Oil Pipelines, and has served on the National Petroleum Council as well as the Transportation and Public Policy Committees of the American Petroleum Institute. Edwards is currently a consultant in the energy field. From November 1999 until the time of his retirement in December 2001, he was senior executive vice president, Corporate Strategy & Development, Conoco, Inc., and had been executive vice president, Refining, Marketing, Supply & Transportation of Conoco from September 1991 until November 1999. From September 1991 to October 1998, Edwards also was a senior vice president, E. I. duPont de Nemours and Company (Conoco's parent). During his 38-year career with Conoco, Edwards also worked in a number of managerial positions in the pipeline transportation, natural gas and gas products, and logistics and marketing businesses at various locations in the U.S. and the U.K., and his leadership was significant in the company's successful expansion of its downstream businesses into Asia Pacific and Europe. He is a director of the American Petroleum Institute, and a past director and vice president of the European Petroleum Industry Association in Brussels. The election of Cropper and Edwards brings the total number of board members to eight. Sunoco Logistics Partners L.P. (NYSE: SXL), headquartered in Philadelphia was formed to acquire, own and operate Sunoco Inc.'s refined product and crude oil pipelines and terminal facilities. The Eastern Pipeline System serves primarily Sunoco's Northeast and Midwest U.S. refining and marketing operations, and consists of approximately 1,900 miles of refined product pipeline (including a one-third interest in an 80-mile refined products pipeline), a 123-mile crude oil pipeline, 58 miles of inter-refinery pipelines and a 9.4% interest in Explorer Pipeline Company, which owns and operates a 1,413-mile refined products pipeline. The Terminal Facilities consist of 6.8 million barrels of refined product terminal capacity, 14.2 million barrels of crude oil terminal capacity (including 11.2 million at the Texas Gulf Coast Nederland Terminal), and 1.0 million barrels of LPG terminal capacity at a terminal located near Detroit, Michigan. The Western Pipeline System consists of approximately 1,880 miles of crude oil trunk pipelines and 870 miles of crude oil gathering lines, located principally in Oklahoma and Texas. Sunoco, Inc.
