Fox News features Hanger Clinic patient and marathon runner Edward Lychik

New York City, N.Y., November 6, 2014 – recently featured Hanger Clinic patient Edward Lychik. The online article and video segment highlight the impressive athletic achievements of Lychik who lost his left leg through the hip as the result of a blast injury sustained while on duty in Afghanistan, serving as a Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army.

About Edward Lychik: While on duty in Afghanistan, on his 21st birthday three years ago, U.S. Army Combat Engineer Edward Lychik lost his left leg through the hip due to a blast injury.  However, today at 24 years old, Lychik is defying the odds and not just walking; he is running wooded trails and marathons at an impressive 9-minute mile pace – with a custom-designed prosthesis from Hanger Clinic Prosthetist Ryan Blanck, CPO. Most recently, Lychik ran the New York City Marathon and finished with a time of four hours and 24 minutes. In April, he ran the 2014 Boston Marathon in support of the Martin W. Richard Charitable Foundation, the non-profit created by the parents of Martin Richards, the youngest of the three people killed during the April 15th attack at the 2013 Boston Marathon.
