Former Denver Rocky Mountain News VP selected for positionLinda Sease, former vice president of marketing and new media for the Rocky Mountain News in Denver, has been named marketing director for The E. W. Scripps Company's (NYSE: SSP) newspaper division.
Sease, who has been recognized as one of the newspaper industry's leading marketing professionals, will be responsible for directing marketing activities within the Scripps newspaper division, including strategic planning, market research, brand and product management, advertising and promotion and new product development.

Sease served as marketing chief for the Scripps-owned Rocky Mountain News from 1995 until the business operations of the Rocky and The Denver Post, owned by MediaNews Group, were merged in January 2001. After leaving the Rocky, she worked as director of new business for Clear Channel Communications in Denver and also operated her own interior design company.
Sease came to the Rocky Mountain News from Houston where she had worked 15 years as a marketing, communications and public relations professional. From 1984 to 1987 she was director of public relations for Macy's department stores in Texas and was director of public relations and corporate spokesman for all Foley's department stores from 1990 to 1994. She was director of marketing for the Houston Ballet from 1987 to 1990 and director of communications for the Houston Rockets NBA basketball franchise from 1994 to 1995.
Sease graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in advertising and public relations. In 1996 she was named Marketer of the Year in an annual competition sponsored by Ad Age magazine and the Newspaper Association of America. The same year, her work earned the ADL Norman Newhouse Human Relations Communications Award for the Rocky Mountain News.
