|Scripps Sells $200 Million of 10-Year Notes|

Company (NYSE: SSP) today completed the public offering of $200 million of 5.75%
Notes due 2012. The company intends to use the net proceeds of the offering to
repay in full its $100 million 6.375% Notes due 2002 and to repay a portion of
its outstanding commercial paper obligations.
The E.W. Scripps Company is a diverse media concern with interests in newspaper publishing, broadcast television, national television networks and interactive media. Scripps operates 21 daily newspapers, 10 broadcast TV stations and four cable television networks.
