Alain Monié currently serves as chief executive officer of Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s leading technology distributor. A seasoned executive with more than 35 years of international business experience, Monié leads an organization employing approximately 20,800 associates in 37 countries.
From January 2012 through September 2013, Monié served as the company’s president and chief executive officer and from November 2011 until January 2012 as president and chief operating officer with responsibility for the overall operating performance of the company with particular emphasis on driving corporate strategies and profitable growth initiatives.
Monié rejoined Ingram Micro in November 2011after a year as chief executive officer of APRIL Management Pte., a multinational industrial company based in Singapore.
Before his role at APRIL Management Pte., Monié served as president and chief operating officer of Ingram Micro Inc. from 2007 to 2010. He joined Ingram Micro in February 2003 as executive vice president and was appointed president of the Asia-Pacific region a year later. In the three years under Monié’s leadership the region doubled in size after the acquisition of Tech Pacific, transforming from a break-even business in early 2004 to one of significant profitability.
As a corporate executive of renowned international companies, Monié has played a leading role in building successful organizations throughout the world. He spent more than two years as president of the Latin American Division of Honeywell International, responsible for all countries in the region. He joined Honeywell through the corporation’s merger with Allied Signal Inc. in 1999.
Prior to the merger, Monié built a 15-year career in Asia, leading Allied Signals’ expansion into China and enhancing its presence in India. He joined the company in 1984 and, during his tenure, advanced from a regional sales manager to head of Asia-Pacific operations. He also held general management positions with Sogitec Inc., a French aerospace simulation corporation, and was a controller for Renault, a French automotive firm. He began his career in Mexico City as a civil construction engineer.
Monié was educated in France, earning a master’s in business administration from the Institut Supérieur des Affaires in Jouy en Josas. He received high honors in his automation engineering studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Arts et Metiers. He currently serves on the board of directors of Ingram Micro Inc. and Amazon.com, Inc. and is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
