Senior Executive Vice President and President, Asia Pacific
John Soumbasakis serves as senior executive vice president and president, Asia Pacific. He is responsible for driving the region’s overall strategy development, execution and performance. He was named to the position in August 2013.
In his more than 10-year tenure with Ingram Micro, Soumbasakis, most recently served as executive vice president and president, Latin America, where the region regularly delivered record quarterly revenues and operating profitability. He also championed and led the efforts to rebuild the company's operations in Brazil, returning the country to strong growth and significantly improving operating results after many quarters of underperformance.
Prior to that role, Soumbasakis served as senior vice president for Ingram Micro’s Specialty Solutions Division in North America. He was responsible for five businesses: Data Capture/Point-of-Sale (POS), AVAD and DBL within Ingram Micro Consumer Electronics, and the Mobility and Physical Security businesses. His responsibilities included oversight of strategy development and execution, as well as day-to-day operations.
Soumbasakis joined Ingram Micro in February 2003. His initial role was vice president, corporate business development, in which, he supported a broad North America restructuring program by managing 36 implementation teams across all functional areas. He also led the identification and analysis of new markets and evaluated potential acquisition targets.
From May 2005 through July 2008, Soumbasakis served as vice president and general manager, Data Capture/POS Division. He was then promoted to senior vice president, strategic divisions, serving in that capacity from July 2008 through December 2010.
Before joining Ingram Micro, Soumbasakis was a principal for The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), an international strategy and general management consulting firm. While at BCG, he consulted with a wide range of clients regarding business restructuring, mergers and acquisitions and strategy development and implementation.
Soumbasakis holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and received his bachelor of arts in economics from Yale University.
