SEMCO ENERGY Asks Customers to Clear Ice and Snow From Meters

PORT HURON, Mich., Jan. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY is asking customers to carefully clear icicles and other large amounts of ice from their roofs and around gas meters as a safety precaution.

Falling ice, as well as heavy ice buildups on meters and pipes, can cause stress that may lead to gas leaks.

Customers also are asked to remember that blowing or shoveling snow onto meters can have the same result. Additionally, built-up snow and ice can hinder quick access to a shut-off valve in an emergency.
