SEMCO ENERGY Appoints Anthony M. Izzo as ENSTAR Vice President

PORT HURON, Mich., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMCO ENERGY, Inc. (NYSE: SMGS) announced on Dec. 10 the appointment of Anthony M. Izzo to Vice President of Engineering & Operations for SEMCO ENERGY subsidiary ENSTAR Natural Gas Company, located in Anchorage, Alaska. Izzo has been serving as City President of SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY's Battle Creek Division that distributes natural gas to residential, commercial, and industrial customers in southwest Michigan.

Izzo will report directly to Dick Barnes, President of ENSTAR Natural Gas Company. His appointment is effective 1-1-2000. SEMCO ENERGY maintains an interest in continuing Mr. Izzo's local affiliations on the Art Center of Battle Creek Board of Directors, the Battle Creek Gas Company Advisory Board and the Battle Creek Unlimited Board of Directors.

SEMCO ENERGY President & Chief Operating Officer Carl W. Porter made the announcement. "Tony has done a fine job here for us in Battle Creek and we thank him for his outstanding service. Mr. Izzo has held many positions in his 20-year utility career, including Director of Operations for Battle Creek Gas Company and General Manager of Distribution & Construction for New Jersey Natural Gas Company.
