SEMCO ENERGY Names Brad Olson Vice President of Operations For Sub-Surface Resources, Inc.

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., April 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SEMCO ENERGY, Inc. (NYSE: SEN) today announced that Brad W. Olson has been named Vice President of Operations for the Company's construction unit, Sub- Surface Resources, Inc., effective immediately. Marcus Jackson, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of SEMCO ENERGY, Inc., made the announcement.

"Brad Olson has a proven set of management skills that will be a strong strategic benefit to the success of the Sub-Surface group," Mr. Jackson said.

Mr. Olson will oversee field operations for all Sub-Surface Resources companies, with his responsibilities ranging from safety and company profitability to operations quality.

Sub-Surface Resources, Inc. includes Sub-Surface Construction Co. in Michigan, Flint Construction Co. in Georgia, Iowa Pipeline Associates, Inc. in Iowa and Long's Underground Technologies, Inc. in Texas.

Mr. Olson most recently was Senior Vice President of Operations for MASTEC in Shevlin, MN, where his responsibilities included managing the company's electric, telephone and pipeline construction business.

He previously was President of Mueller Energy Services of Lorain, Ohio. He has more than 20 years experience in the underground construction business ranging from equipment operations to executive positions.

Mr. Olson attended Marquette University. His professional associations have included the Distribution Contractors Association and the National Underground Contractors Association.

His initial focus will be on operations at Sub-Surface Construction Co. in Comstock Park, MI.
