SEMCO Begins Re-Lighting Customers in Niles

NILES, Mich., Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- At about 5:30 p.m. this afternoon, SEMCO ENERGY began energizing its natural gas distribution system in the area of Eagle, Howard, Cass, Ferry, Sycamore, Regent and Cedar Streets in Niles. The gas company expected technicians to begin relighting customers beginning at about 6 p.m. and will be working throughout the day and night, if necessary, to restore individual gas service.

The gas company will need access to each home or business in order to re- light appliances and furnaces. For safety reasons, service cannot be restored unless access to homes and businesses is gained. If possible, residents should remain at home throughout the day to admit gas company technicians. Residents who cannot remain or return home are asked to make alternate arrangements for the gas company to gain access to their homes.
