SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY Announces Departure of Vice President of Marketing; Marketing Division Reductions

PORT HURON, Mich., Jan. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SEMCO ENERGY, Inc. today announced that Ebrahim I. (Abby) Moradian, Vice President of Marketing for SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY, has left the Company.

Moradian joined SEMCO ENERGY in December 1998 as Manager of Industrial Marketing. He was named Vice President of Marketing in September 1999.

Timothy J. Lubbers, Director of Marketing for SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY, will continue in his current capacity and will report directly to Gas Company President and Chief Executive Officer Jon A. Kosht.

The Gas Company also announced the elimination, effective immediately, of nine positions in the Sales and Planning departments of the Marketing Division. The positions were eliminated as part of a strategic redirection of SEMCO ENERGY, Inc.

SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY, a division of SEMCO ENERGY, Inc. (NYSE: SEN), distributes natural gas to more than 262,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Michigan. The Alaska division, ENSTAR Natural Gas Company, distributes natural gas to more than 100,000 customers in Anchorage and surrounding areas.
