ENSTAR Names Vice President of Administration

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ENSTAR Natural Gas Company today announced the appointment of Barbara A. Akins as Vice President of Administration. The announcement was made by ENSTAR President Barrett Hatches.

"I am delighted to welcome Barbara into the ENSTAR family - she is a wonderful addition to our Anchorage team." Hatches said. "I feel confident that our employees will benefit from her proven expertise and management skills, and that she shares the SEMCO ENERGY vision for ENSTAR."

In her new position, Akins will be responsible for directing ENSTAR's Human Resources, Employee Relations, Marketing, Purchasing, Risk Management, and Safety functions.

Akins brings more than 25 years of experience to ENSTAR, during which time she planned, controlled and coordinated overall Human Resource operations at a corporate level. Prior to joining ENSTAR, she was Corporate Director of Diversity at SC Johnson & Son, Inc. in Racine, Wisconsin. Her background includes senior management positions at Metra in Chicago, and with the former AT & SF Railway Company.

Having graduated from Texas Woman's University with a degree in Economics, Akins received her master's in Economics from the University of Missouri.
