PORT HURON, Mich., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel J. Forsyth, Director of
Eastern Operations for SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY, was named a 1999 "OUTSTANDING
MANAGER" by GAS Utility and Pipeline Industries magazine, it was announced
Forsyth is one of three individuals, along with one six-member group,
honored. The magazine covers the natural gas industry.
"I appreciate being nominated and it is an honor to be selected for the
award, but the real credit for this goes to the entire Eastern District crew
for rolling up their sleeves and getting the job done," Forsyth said.
Thomas S. East, gas company Vice President of Operations, nominated
Forsyth for the annual award.
"Dan took on a number of difficult projects last year and, through
persistence, innovation and sheer hard work, successfully completed them,"

In his nomination letter, East cited Forsyth for his work as Project
Manager for the gas company's Field Order System, which allows service orders
to be dispatched electronically; for maintaining a 93 percent meter reading
rate while revising the meter reading system and for ensuring all mandated
code-related work was completed as scheduled while maintaining an average
response time of 30 minutes or less on leaks and emergencies.
Carl W. Porter, SEMCO ENERGY Senior Vice President and Chief Operating
Officer for the gas company, said Forsyth is an example of the depth of talent
at SEMCO ENERGY GAS COMPANY and throughout the Company.

Forsyth, 39, has been Director of Eastern Operations, which includes
St. Clair, Sanilac and Northern Macomb counties, since 1996.
He is a graduate of Michigan Technological University and lives in Port
Huron with his wife and two daughters.
