PORT HURON, Mich., May 6 /PRNewswire/ -- SEMCO ENERGY, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMGS)
today announced that Samuel B. Dallas has been appointed Vice President of
William L. Johnson, Company Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer, made the announcement.

Dallas will report to Sebastian Coppola, Senior Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer of SEMCO ENERGY, Inc. His responsibilities include risk
management, corporate planning, employee benefit plans and the Company's
Dallas joins SEMCO ENERGY from MCN Energy Group where he most recently
held the title of Director, Trust Investments.
He held a number of management positions during his more than 20-year
career with MCN and its affiliate companies including Director of Payroll
Services and Director of Investor Relations.
His extensive finance background also includes serving as Director of
Corporate Finance for Primark Corporation.
Dallas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master's
Degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University in Detroit.
He is a member of the Executive Board of the Michigan Employee Benefits
Conference and serves on the Coalition for Retirement Income Security, which
develops pension legislative positions.
He lives with his wife and two children in Clinton Township, Mich.
