Life Fitness Lends a Hand to Back on My Feet

SCHILLER PARK, Ill., June 29, 2010 – Life Fitness has extended a helping hand to non-profit Back On My Feet through a monetary donation that will help seed the expansion of the one-of-a-kind organization. With chapters currently in Baltimore; Boston; Philadelphia; Washington, D.C. and soon Chicago; Back On My Feet promotes running as a way to help the homeless lead better lives. In addition to its $7,500 donation, Life Fitness employees will also volunteer as running mentors when the Chicago Chapter opens later this year.

Back On My Feet presents a 6 to 9-month structured training program for the homeless that encourages self-sufficiency and confidence. Participants join group runs three days a week to prepare them for entry in races provided by the non-profit. Upon completion, Back On My Feet members are put in contact with local companies for job training, educational scholarships and housing assistance.

“At Life Fitness we are passionate about helping people make the lifelong commitment to fitness,” said Tim McCarthy vice president of sales for Life Fitness. “It’s amazing to see the impact Back On My Feet has made in communities and we are grateful that we can give back to our hometown.”
