e-learning solutions, today announced they were awarded a $748,000
agreement with Ysleta Independent School District (Tex.) for
acceleration, remediation, and credit recovery (ARC Program) in
response to a district request for proposals.
"Our goal for the ARC program is to create consistency across the
district in our acceleration, remediation, and credit recovery
programs and to position ourselves to meet the needs of students who
don't fit into the traditional class setting, whether through
alternative programs or distance learning," said Micha Villarreal,

Proposals were evaluated on a provider's ability to meet the needs
of middle and high school populations, as well as their rating against
the following criteria:
1. Purchase price;
2. Reputation of the vendor and of the vendor's goods or services;
3. Quality of the vendor's goods or services;
4. Extent to which the goods or services meet the district's
5. Vendor's past relationship with the district.
"We had high standards when selecting a vendor. We wanted to
ensure that we were providing good quality content that met state
standards and provided the rigor of face-to-face courses," said

set forth in the request for proposal. The PLATO online curriculum
provided the curricular foundation for the ARC project. The product
was then personalized to meet our range of needs, from credit recovery
to acceleration, and will support our future vision for distance

11 high school, middle school, and alternative learning institutions
in Ysleta ISD for three years. Middle and high school curricula in
language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies will be
complemented with 19 days of professional development to guide
successful implementation, help the district differentiate instruction
to meet unique learner needs, and support program evaluation.
