Offers Free Recycling for any Office Technology Product on Earth Day, April 22
FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar. 23, 2009--
Staples,
Inc. (Nasdaq: SPLS), the world’s largest office products company, today
announced it is rewarding customers by offering free
printer recycling and a $50 rebate with the purchase of a new
printer (regularly priced $179 and up) at all Staples 1,500 U.S. stores
and Staples.com through May 2, 2009.
Staples, a leader in office technology recycling, is hosting the printer
recycling event for the second consecutive year. During the 2008
recycling event, Staples collected more than 100,000 printers, and
expects to recycle even more this spring. To make it easier for
customers to recycle
office technology, Staples is also offering customers free recycling
of any technology product it sells on Earth Day, April 22, 2009, at any
Staples store nationwide. Customers can bring in any item Staples sells
to recycle at their local Staples, including telephones, digital
cameras, computers, laptops and GPS devices (one per item customer).
“Staples is a one-stop shop for a wide variety of technology products,
from computers and printers to digital cameras and GPS devices,” said
Scott Rankin, VP/DMM of technology merchandising, Staples. “We are
committed to making it easy for customers to make a difference, what
Staples calls EcoEasy, by providing customers with recycling services.
The printer trade in program is an easy way for customers to recycle
their old printers safely, and upgrade to a new printer that best meets
their needs.”
The printer recycling event also offers significant savings on exclusive
Staples EcoEasy Edition printers by HP. Each printer in this line is an
Energy Star-qualified product and helps customers save resources with
automatic double-sided printing. Plus, with every purchase from this
line, Staples will make a donation to Carbonfund.org
to offset the average energy consumed over three years of product use.
These donations will go toward supporting Carbonfund.org’s Return to
Forest reforestation project.
