The Legacy Of Founder Bill Rouse Lives On Through Day Of Caring Program

LEHIGH VALLEY, PA – June 25, 2010 – On Friday, June 18, Liberty Property Trust employees from the Lehigh Valley regional office traded in their suits and Blackberrys for t-shirts, shovels and paint brushes to participate in the 7th annual Bill Rouse Day of Caring. Liberty closed its 20 offices for a full day so that teams of employees could work on community service projects in memory of the company’s founder, William G. Rouse III.

Bill Rouse was as committed to community service and involvement as he was to real estate development. When he passed away in 2003, Liberty employees sought a way to honor his memory and launched the annual Bill Rouse Day of Caring. It is traditionally held on the Friday before his birthday, each year.

To honor his memory the Lehigh Valley team partnered with Family Answers, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing counseling and family preservations services to people throughout the Lehigh Valley. The Liberty team helped with interior painting and repairs to the Allentown office (a large Victorian house). They worked on trimming, landscaping, mulching, preparing flower beds, building shelves in closets and organizing items for recycling.

For more than 100 years Family Answers has provided a variety of different programs and services to Lehigh Valley residents; touching 10,000 lives annually. Some of the services include education, advocacy for families considered to be at high risk for violence and abuse, Homemaker Health Aide which provides housekeeping, meal preparations laundry, shopping, and Ways to work which helps families obtain low interest rates on car loans.
