LIBERTY PROPERTY TRUST RECEIVES LEED® GOLD CERTIFICATION FOR BOCA COLONNADE II IN FLORIDA

Class A Office Building Marks the Region’s First High Performance Office Building in Boca

BOCA RATON – May 22, 2009 - Liberty Property Trust (NYSE:LRY), the real estate investment trust that owns and manages 2.1 million square feet of office and industrial properties in South Florida, today announced that Boca Colonnade II has earned LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

“Boca Colonnade II is the region's first high performance green office building and offers a template for how sustainable design can make a difference to tenants and communities in South Florida,” said Andy Petry, vice president, leasing and development at Liberty. “The building’s design incorporates state-of-the-art technology that assures exceptional air quality and abundant natural lighting, while limiting resource consumption and lowering operating costs. One example of how we will limit resource consumption is by utilizing water reducing fixtures (and water efficient landscaping) and by doing so we project a 45.8% savings in water consumption compared to a typical development built to code.”

LEED is the USGBC’s leading measurement rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing buildings. LEED Gold certification of Boca Colonnade II was based on a number of green design and construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community. These features include: waterless urinals, low-flow shower heads and sensor faucets, high energy-efficient HVAC equipment with special filters and carbon dioxide monitors, a highly reflective TPO roof membrane, as well as low VOC (volatile organic compounds) emitting paints, carpet and adhesives.

“Liberty Property Trust is a landlord that takes environmental issues seriously as it develops new properties,” said Kyle Abney, president of the USGBC’s South Florida Chapter and principal of Abney +Abney Green Solutions. “We look forward to future high performance development projects from Liberty in the South Florida area.”
