Liberty To help US Service Personnel Phone Home As It E-Cycles Cell Phones In 18 Cities This Earth Day
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 20, 2009

LIBERTY PROPERTY TRUST TO HELP U.S. SERVICE PERSONNEL PHONE HOME AS IT E-CYCLES CELL PHONES IN 18 CITIES THIS EARTH DAY

Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota Region Offices to Participate

WHAT: Liberty Property Trust will collect used cell phones in 18 of its regions this Earth Day – Wednesday, April 22 – in support of Cell Phones for Soldiers, a charitable foundation that provides calling cards to U.S. soldiers stationed overseas.

WHY: Cell Phones for Soldiers collects 50,000 cell phones each month. These are sent to ReCellular, which pays CPFS for each donated phone – enough to provide an hour of talk time to soldiers abroad. An estimated 130 million cell phones are replaced by consumers each year – and the majority are discarded (and wind up polluting landfills) or stuffed in a drawer or closet. By collecting the phones, CPFS’ teenage founders Robbie and Brittany Berquist keep the phones from going to waste while helping soldiers keep in touch with loved ones.
