Liberty Property Trust's Maitland Summit III Building Named "2010 Project Of The Year" By The Central Florida Chapter Of The U.S. Green Building Council

ORLANDO, FL – November 9 , 2010 – Liberty Property Trust (NYSE: LRY) today announced that it has received the LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Core and Shell Project of the Year award from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Central Florida Chapter for its 211,000 square foot Maitland Summit III building. The award recognizes excellence in project design, execution and development.

“It is a tremendous honor to receive this award and to be recognized among our peers in Central Florida as a leader in high performance design and development,” said Stephen Whitley, Liberty’s senior vice president and city manager for the Orlando region. “This award is a testament to our company’s commitment to sustainable building practices throughout the country.”

The 2010 award presented to Liberty was received in the LEED Core and Shell category and Liberty was the only company to be recognized in this class. Attending and accepting the award for Liberty was Jay Ohanesian, project manager.

LEED is the USGBC’s leading measurement rating system for designing and constructing the world’s greenest, most energy efficient and high performing buildings. Criteria for the Core and Shell Project of the Year award include: the demonstration of a holistic approach towards integrating green building practices and principles into project design and execution and operation, as well as the development of innovative solutions to regional design challenges.

Earlier this year Liberty received LEED Gold certification for the building, based on a number of green design elements, including enhanced daylight views, use of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified woods, waterless urinals, low-flow shower heads and sensor faucets, high energy-efficient HVAC equipment with special filters and carbon dioxide monitors, a highly reflective TPO roof membrane, as well as low VOC (volatile organic compounds) emitting paints, carpet and adhesives.
