The Legacy Of Founder Bill Rouse Lives On Through Day Of Caring Program

HAMPTON ROADS, VA – June 21, 2010 – On Friday, June 18, Liberty Property Trust employees from the Hampton Roads regional office traded in their suits and Blackberrys for t-shirts, shovels and paint brushes to participate in the 7th annual Bill Rouse Day of Caring. Liberty closed its 20+ offices for a full day so that teams of employees could work on community service projects in memory of the company’s founder, Willard G. Rouse III.

Bill Rouse was as committed to community service and involvement as he was to real estate development. When he passed away in 2003, Liberty employees sought a way to honor his memory and launched the annual Bill Rouse Day of Caring. It is traditionally held on the Friday before his birthday, each year.

To honor his memory the Hampton Roads team partnered with the Chesapeake Care Free Clinic, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing health care services to individuals who cannot afford health care and who do not qualify for other assistance programs, or have health insurance. They helped to landscape the premises, including pulling weeds, trimming trees and laying mulch, in addition to power washing and re-striping the parking lot.

This is the fourth year that Liberty has volunteered with Chesapeake Care Free Clinic for its Day of Caring. The Chesapeake Care Free Clinic changes lives through education and compassionate healthcare. For more information please visit www.chesapeakecare.org.
