Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. Names Vanessa Holden Editor-In-Chief of Martha Stewart Weddings

Creative Expert to Collaborate With Cross-Platform Teams to Extend MSLO’s Growing Weddings Franchise

NEW YORK, August 18, 2008 -- Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc. has named Vanessa Holden a Vice President and Editor-in-Chief of Martha Stewart Weddings, an award-winning, quarterly bridal magazine that is the leading magazine in its category on newsstands. She is responsible for overseeing the editorial and visual direction of Weddings and will collaborate with Weddings Editorial Director Darcy Miller and the Internet and Broadcast teams to further build MSLO’s growing Weddings franchise. Ms. Holden will report to EVP Creative Director Eric Pike.

With its inspiring ideas, practical “how-to” information and sumptuous photographs, Martha Stewart Weddings is a cornerstone of MSLO’s Weddings franchise. The franchise also encompasses extensive online content on marthastewart.com, where engaged couples can now plan and manage their wedding with a new suite of wedding planning tools powered by WeddingWire. In addition, the Martha Stewart Collection exclusively at Macy’s, which ranges from linens and kitchenware to fine china with Wedgwood, is the No. 1 brand on Macy’s bridal registry. The company also offers weddings-related books such as Weddings by Martha Stewart and Martha Stewart’s Wedding Cakes and a new crafts line of ready-made paper-based weddings essentials, Martha Stewart Celebrate, at Wal-Mart Stores.

A creative visionary with a rich background in magazine and book publishing, Ms. Holden joins MSLO from Vanessa Holden AD+D, a consulting firm focused on magazine development as well as book and branding projects in the food and lifestyle arena. She will work closely with Ms. Miller and the rest of the team, including AVP Style Director Katie Hatch and Art Director Jayme Smith Murray.

Prior to starting her consulting business, Ms. Holden was Creative Director of Real Simple magazine. Before that, she served as Creative Director of Donna Hay magazine, which she co-founded and launched in July 2001; the magazine and related books won numerous publishing awards, including the prestigious James Beard award. Ms. Holden previously worked at Marie Claire (Australia) and Marie Claire Lifestyle (Australia). She also worked as an art director and designer for Vogue Entertaining and Travel and Vogue Living. She is a graduate of the University of New South Wales College of Fine Arts in Sydney.

In announcing the appointment, EVP Creative Director Eric Pike stated: “I have admired Vanessa’s work for years and think she is an amazing talent. She brings a thoughtful and intelligent eye as well as superb storytelling ability to the magazine. We’re looking forward to working with her.”

Ms. Holden stated: “I’m delighted and honored to be joining Darcy, Katie and Jayme and the incredibly talented team at Martha Stewart Weddings. It’s a fabulous opportunity to evolve and grow a truly exceptional, beautifully executed magazine, and to further develop the brand across multiple platforms. I’m thrilled to begin working at MSLO, a company whose products, culture, people and creativity I’ve admired since the very first issue of Martha Stewart Living, which I bought 17 years ago and still treasure.”

“Vanessa is an extraordinary talent whose formidable skills and design sense will enhance the pages of our magazine and our presence in the Weddings space. I’m thrilled that she will be joining us and can’t wait to work with her,” said Ms. Miller.
