About MSA

Our Products
Through MSA’s three business segments - MSA North America, MSA Europe and MSA International - the company provides a comprehensive line of products used by workers in the fire service, law enforcement, construction, oil and gas, chemical and other industries, as well as the military. MSA products are built with "integrated system" capability that ensures compatibility between individual products. For example, MSA supplied-air respiratory facepieces are designed so that they integrate easily and seamlessly with MSA head protection products.
Quality
At MSA we recognize that the best customer experiences begin with "out-of-the-box" product quality. Just as innovation is designed into MSA products, quality is built in from start to finish. Nearly all components of the company's products are formulated, machined, tooled, or molded in-house from raw materials. For example, MSA relies on its integrated manufacturing capability to produce breathing apparatus, hard hats and printed circuit boards for gas detection instruments. Research & Development
To maintain its position at the forefront of safety equipment innovation, MSA operates the most complete research and development facilities in the industry. The foundation of this commitment is the John T. Ryan Memorial Laboratory near Pittsburgh, the world's most sophisticated proving ground for safety products.
Today, MSA's global engineering teams operate in the U.S. as well as in Australia, Brazil, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, China and several other countries. Within each is a talented team that draws on the expertise of other MSA engineers around the globe. The result is a synergy of ideas that is benefiting customers worldwide.
This collaborative spirit has resulted in the joint design of such leading edge products as the Advanced Combat Helmet, the ultra-versatile Firehawk® M7 Responder Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus and the popular ALTAIR® line of multigas detectors. These and other products incorporate the latest in computer-aided design, laser modeling and testing. Government approval requirements beyond the U.S. are considered from the start and engineered in from the very beginning. This approach results in products that conform to the broadest range of global performance standards, enabling worldwide use while reducing product development costs.
Reflecting the company’s commitment to excellence in product innovation and design, MSA is a recent recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Corporate Innovator award from The Product Development and Management Association.
