Lowe's Promotes Edwards to Senior Vice President-Store Operations

MOORESVILLE, N.C., July 6, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE: LOW) announced today that William W. (Bill) Edwards has been promoted to senior vice president-store operations for the north central division. He replaces Nick Canter, who was recently promoted to executive vice president- store operations. Edwards will report to Canter.

Edwards, 45, served most recently as regional vice president of Lowe's mid-Atlantic region based in Richmond, Virginia. He joined Lowe's in 1993 and has 23 years of retail experience. During his 12 years with the company, he has also served as store manager and district manager. Edwards earned a degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina- Wilmington.
