DMC Board of Directors Names New Chairman

Dynamic Materials Corporation, (Nasdaq: BOOM), "DMC", today reported that the Company's Board of Directors named Michel Philippe as its new Chairman of the Board at a meeting held on Thursday, September 12. Mr. Philippe is Senior Vice President of Finance and Legal Affairs for Groupe SNPE and President of Nobel Explosifs France, a Groupe SNPE subsidiary engaged in the manufacture and sale of industrial explosives. Philippe replaces Bernard Hueber who resigned as DMC's chairman in connection with his June 2002 retirement as General Manager of Groupe SNPE's Industrial Explosives operating unit. Hueber will continue to serve as a DMC director. Groupe SNPE owns a 55% interest in DMC through a U.S. subsidiary, SNPE, Inc.

DMC's annual meeting of stockholders was also held on September 12. At this meeting, DMC stockholders elected Yves Charvin as a director, re-elected Dean K. Allen and Mr. Philippe as directors, and ratified the selection of Ernst & Young LLP as the Company's new independent accountants. Mr. Charvin is Director of Corporate Development and Legal Counsel for Groupe SNPE and Mr. Allen is the former president of Parsons Europe, Middle East and South Africa who has been a DMC director since 1993.

At the Board of Directors meeting that followed the annual stockholders' meeting, the Board re-elected the following officers to continue in their current positions: Yvon Cariou, President and Chief Executive Officer, Richard A. Santa, Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Secretary, and John G. Banker, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Clad Metal Division.
