XanEdu Expands Offering to Include Daily Desktop Updates to Its CoursePack Line

XanEdu's CoursePacks+ Brings Breaking News Into Higher Education Courses -
Making the Everyday World Part of the Learning Experience

ANN ARBOR, Mich., March 12 /PRNewswire/ -- XanEdu, a division of Bell and
Howell's Information and Learning (NYSE: BHW), in keeping with its aim to
offer students and professors the most relevant and up-to-date curriculum
available in post-secondary education, announced today it will be offering
CoursePacks+ -- aligning the XanEdu ReSearch Engine and CoursePack products.
This combination allows for a mix of authoritative, instructor-selected
material and a constant up-to-the-minute feed of related material making it
possible to integrate breaking news immediately into classroom discussion and
XanEdu offers students and professors unprecedented desktop access to
journals, periodicals, newspapers, original works and case studies. Primary
source and archival content help professors teach smarter and students learn
more efficiently. Included in XanEdu's product line are customizable
CoursePacks and the XanEdu ReSearch Engine -- which, when combined together
form CoursePacks+, make XanEdu's course materials not only rich in content,
but as up-to-date as possible.
"This marriage between our ReSearch Engine and CoursePacks products puts
timely, targeted information into the classroom immediately," said XanEdu's
General Manager Lew Gossage. "It is another example of how XanEdu makes
learning a continually informed process. Instead of using a static textbook,
with CoursePacks+ students are able to see daily how the real world is
relevant in their courses."
To create CoursePacks+, each product is bundled with a discipline from the
XanEdu ReSearch Engine. For example, a CoursePack+ designed for a class on an
analysis and discussion of the U.S. versus Microsoft, would contain the core
materials the professor builds for the class, and would also be updated on a
daily basis with relevant news updates in the form of articles from
periodicals (dailies/weeklies/monthlies).
"CoursePacks+ offers students a perfect balance of historical content with
new developments to make learning come off of the page and into the
curriculum," Gossage said.
There are currently more than 125 CoursePacks+ titles available in a
variety of disciplines. XanEdu expects that by April over 500 additional
subjects will be available in business, humanities, social science, education,
nursing, science and more.
