|New series gives listeners the opportunity to learn more about Sopris authors

Beneficial to any educator, the new series features informal conversations with renowned Sopris authors, connecting cutting-edge researchers and educators with listeners. This month's featured author, Maria Elena Arguelles, Ph.D., is an educational consultant who provides support to states, school districts and schools in their implementation of effective reading instruction for young English language learners (ELs) and struggling learners. Dr. Arguelles is the author of Sopris' Academic Vocabulary for English Language Learners, and co-author of LETRS® Second Edition and Teaching English Language Learners, in addition to several other publications. She also has teaching experience at the public school level as well as at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Her primary areas of interest are early reading instruction, students with reading difficulties and reading instruction for ELs.
