Dot Hill and Sun Microsystems Celebrate Shipment of 100,000th Sun StorageTek 3000 Family System
Milestone Reinforces Continued Success of the Sun and Dot Hill Relationship

CARLSBAD, Calif., Oct. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dot Hill Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: HILL), a market leader in providing flexible storage offerings and responsive service and support to OEMs and system integrators (SIs), today announced a major milestone in its relationship with Sun Microsystems with the shipment of the 100,000th unit of the Sun StorageTek(TM) 3000 family of workgroup storage systems.

"Dot Hill's delivery of 100,000 units through Sun is a significant milestone and remarkable for any product in this class," said Dana Kammersgard, president and chief executive officer at Dot Hill Systems. "Sun is a valued strategic partner and we look forward to continuing to provide the company with highly scalable and available storage solutions to continue its leadership in the workgroup storage market."

The Sun StorageTek(TM) 3510 Fibre Channel array was the 100,000th milestone unit and was shipped to New Jersey-based reseller partner Innovativ. Innovativ's proven track record for bringing intelligent solutions to large enterprises has earned the company a ranking of 132 in the VARBusiness 500 in 2005 and the 2005 VARBusiness Top Revenue Generator Award.

The milestone is based on gross units shipped. All total, the 100,000 units equate to approximately 103 petabytes of storage capacity -- equivalent to more than 25 billion pages of text, or the contents of two billion four- drawer filing cabinets.

The Sun StorageTek 3000 workgroup storage family is based on Dot Hill's SANnet II offering, designed to address the needs of the critical workgroup market segment. Dot Hill's SANnet II is extremely rugged and is certified to Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) Level 3 and MIL-STD-810F standards to assure high availability. Downtime due to component failures is virtually eliminated as the compact, scalable storage systems have redundant hot- swappable field replaceable units. These products are targeted at small to medium application deployments and workgroup network infrastructure running with multiple operating environments.

Sun currently OEMs Dot Hill's complete line of SANnet II RAID storage solutions including the SANnet II U320 and SANnet II FC-G, which are both RoHS- and WEEE-compliant.

"Dot Hill storage systems provide Sun and our customers with leading-edge entry-level array technology," said Douglas Murray, executive director of Storage Alliances, Sun Microsystems. "Dot Hill is a significant strategic partner and we look forward to the continued success of the relationship."
