Interpublic Receives Perfect Score on the 2013 HRC Corporate Equality Index

November 16, 2012 at 3:43 PM EST

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 16, 2012-- Interpublic Group (NYSE: IPG) has earned a 100% rating in the Corporate Equality Index (CEI), an annual survey published by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC). Over the past 11 years, the CEI has become the gold standard for corporate policies and practices related to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) employees and their families. The HRC's CEI report is the premiere national benchmark for LGBT workplace inclusion, and businesses rated 100% are recognized as "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality”.

In 2010, Interpublic became the first global marketing services holding company to be included in HRC's list of "Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality," based on its perfect score. It continues to be the only major global advertising holding company to achieve this goal. This year, the company again earned its perfect score through a series of comprehensive audits of its policies, including medical coverage, non-discrimination policies, employee guidelines and training, as they relate to LGBT employees and their partners.

"Over the years, IPG has made a formal commitment to becoming the world's most inclusive network of marketing services companies," said Michael I. Roth, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Interpublic. "As part of that plan, we launched employee resource groups across our entire network. These groups partner with clients, the community and one another. One of these groups, the IPGLBT, has helped make Interpublic one of the most progressive places to work for LGBT talent, not just in the advertising world, but in business. Our plan is to continue investing in these resource groups and to build on the progress we have made. Recognition from HRC lets us know that while we have a long way to go, IPG is doing its part to make its workplace more inclusive.”
