Del Monte Connects with Nutrition Community to Share Healthy
Products and Information
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 17, 2009--
Del Monte Foods (NYSE: DLM) is proud to showcase its nutritious fruit,
vegetable and broth products and how they fit into active lifestyles and
healthy diets at this year’s American Dietetic Association Food &
Nutrition Conference & Expo. Held October 17 to 20, 2009 in Denver, CO,
the conference is an important event for dieticians to learn about the
latest information and products that can help people enjoy a lifetime of
good health.
“Del Monte Foods has a long-standing commitment to our consumers to help
them maintain a healthy lifestyle – not only through a smart diet rich
in fruits and vegetables but also through physical activity and
exercise,” said Richard G. Wolford, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
of Del Monte Foods. “Dieticians play a valuable role in helping people
understand how to enrich their lives through good nutrition, and Del
Monte Foods is proud to connect with this important community of
professionals at the ADA Conference.”
Sarah Ludmer, Del Monte Foods’ in-house nutritionist, will be at the
conference to share with dieticians the many health benefits of Del
Monte Foods’ consumer products. Conference attendees will sample Del
Monte® Fruit Naturals and Fruit Chillers
Tubes – two of the brand’s recent healthy, convenient snack
innovations – as well as taste easy recipes made with products including Del
Monte® No Salt Added Summer Crisp Corn and Del
Monte® Diced Tomatoes with Garlic and Onion.
Both recipes are included in a Del Monte recipe booklet featuring dishes
that cost less than $10, which dieticians can pick up at the Del Monte
Foods’ booth #613.
“Surveys have shown that most Americans get only about one-third of the
recommended servings of fruits and vegetables every day – fresh, canned,
frozen or otherwise. They’re not getting all the powerful nutrients they
should, such as antioxidant vitamins like vitamins C and E and
beta-carotene, fiber and plant nutrients like lycopene,” said Ludmer.
“Del Monte Foods’ canned and packaged foods are a healthy, practical and
convenient way to get dinner on the table quickly, enjoy out-of-season
fruits and vegetables and do it at a reasonable cost without sacrificing
good nutrition. We enjoy coming to the ADA conference each year to share
with dieticians how our products can play a part in improving the diets
of Americans nationwide.”
