America’s largest auto retailer has partnered with IndyCar Series Champion Ryan Hunter-Reay to support his Racing for Cancer charity. AutoNation’s primary charitable focus over the next two years will be cancer awareness and prevention, and Ryan’s charity will serve as a key component of that program.

Racing for Cancer’s” mission is simply to help “beat cancer.” The organization seeks to unite motorsport fans, sponsors, teams and others in a coast to coast effort to help eradicate the disease.  They concentrate their efforts in-particular on early detection and prevention along with an emphasis on supporting childhood cancer initiatives. Now with the support of AutoNation, Racing for Cancer will have 21,000 team mates in 15 states.

Cancer awareness is one component of AutoNation’s company-wide wellness initiative, designed to promote better health and fitness among its entire associate base.  The company’s Know Your Numbers campaign has been developed to help associates better understand their own health status and recognize potential risks. The program is highlighted by the Know Your Numbers bus, which visits AutoNation locations across the country to offer free detailed health screenings for associates and their families.

Commitment to Diversity

Our Mission: We strive to create and embrace a workforce as diverse as the communities we serve.#

AutoNation recognizes and values the unique cultures, talents, skills and idea each of our 20,000 associates contributes to our workforce. Each associate is a partner who participates in the foundation, growth and success of AutoNation. By embracing the diversity of our workforce, we foster a competitive and rewarding playing field that encourages risk-taking, entrepreneurship, and open dialogue within our businesses and the communities we serve. We participate in job fairs and visit college campuses to identify potential associates who bring unique talents to the organization. In a number of our markets, internships and mentoring programs are extended to minority youth seeking experience and exposure within the automotive and corporate environment.

Environmental Initiatives

At AutoNation, we recognize that our community extends well beyond the edge of town or the state line. We share a world together, all of us, and we're committed to doing what we can to make it cleaner, safer and friendlier for everyone. That's why we champion environmental issues in the automotive industry, promote responsible consumption of fossil fuels and encourage the development of new and alternative energy sources. Because what happens in each of the communities we serve ultimately affects every community on the planet.

Environmental awareness through our products

AutoNation's E-vehicle program is designed to highlight those vehicles we sell that are particularly fuel efficient. To qualify as an E-vehicle, each car or truck must either produce 28 miles per gallon or deliver 10% better fuel efficiency than average for its class. We also designate "F-vehicles" with a yellow leaf logo; these are cars and trucks that make use of flex fuel technology.

Our world is our community and we're out to make it better

Nationally we recycle more than 3.5 million gallons of used motor oil per year. Additionally, we recycle all car battery cores, rubber tires, office paper, newspapers and cardboard. Our office and all store light fixtures use energy-efficient bulbs and our climate control systems are designed and calibrated to save energy as well.
