Karen Lincoln Named President and Publisher at The Daily Advertiser, Daily World

/PRNewswire/ -- Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) announced Karen Lincoln has been named president and publisher of The Daily Advertiser in Lafayette, LA, and the Daily World, in Opelousas, LA, effective today. Lincoln was formerly president and owner of Lincoln Media and Consulting Services, Inc. She succeeds Ali Zoibi, who retired on March 15.

"Karen has a strong background as a sales leader in both cable and digital, and a proven track record helping businesses succeed," said Robert Dickey, president of U.S. Community Publishing.  "She is a great fit to lead the Advertiser Media Group's efforts to become a full multimedia and digitally-focused organization.  We are delighted to have Karen join the Gannett team in Lafayette."

Prior to creating Lincoln Media Consulting Services, Lincoln was Director of National Sales and Vice President/General Manager of Comcast Spotlight, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable from 2003-2008.

Active in the community, Lincoln served on the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York's Advisory Board.  She is a member of the Atlanta Web Executives Round Table (AWERT), Women in Interactive Marketing (WIIM), and Atlanta Interactive Marketing Association (AIMA). Lincoln is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin. 

In addition, The Daily Advertiser and Daily World also named Karen Lincoln Michel as executive editor.  Lincoln Michel is currently the assistant managing editor at the Green Bay Press-Gazette and will start March 26.  She succeeds Brian Tolley who became executive editor at The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, MS.

Prior to her new role, Lincoln Michel previously served as the Madison (WI) bureau chief at the Green Bay Press-Gazette.  Before that, she was a staff writer for The Dallas Morning News and La Crosse (WI) Tribune.  She has a Master of Arts degree in Journalism from Marquette University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from The University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Lincoln Michel is a board member of the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism and American Indian Science & Engineering Society Publishing, Inc.  She also is a past president of UNITY: Journalists of Color and is a member of the Gannett Leadership and Diversity Council.
