One-of-a-kind shopping destination showcases more than 250,000 pair
of shoes while signature coffee, champagne and chocolates are served at
the Herald Square Cafe
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 20, 2012--
On a street renowned for awe-inspiring productions, the fall 2012
opening of the World’s Largest Shoe Floor at Macy’s
Herald Square is one of the most exciting and epic events of the
season, with the debut of more than 250,000 pair of women’s shoes in a
posh, new, 63,000 square-foot space on the second floor of the iconic
flagship. Broadway’s newest star presents a shopping experience so grand
that the curtain has been raised on the vast new space in phases, with a
grand finale culminating in the unveiling of three brand new,
multi-level, luxury shops this holiday season. The “must-shop”
destination of the fall 2012 season elevates the shopping experience
through décor and design, featuring modern architectural elements that
set the stage for the luxury shoe shops, a designer shoe salon, shoe
closets inspired by New York City’s trendiest neighborhoods, as well as
a stylish new coffee, champagne and chocolate bar. An integral component
of the multi-year, $400 million renovation of Macy’s Herald Square, this
landmark shopping experience is one of the most highly anticipated in
retail history.
Visitors to the World’s Largest Shoe Floor are transported to
shoe nirvana as they enter a dramatic new environment that spans the
entire second floor of the Broadway building. Upon arrival, guests
discover an easy-to-navigate floorplan that seamlessly flows from one
lifestyle category to the next. An incomparable selection of shoes,
almost twice the size of the previous offering, includes a powerful new
assortment from favorite brands, Stuart Weitzman; RACHEL
Rachel Roy; Dolce Vita; Vince Camuto; Lucky; Sperry; Nine
West; I.N.C.; Lauren; Nike; Puma; Keds; Clarks;
and Naturalizer. Sleek new shops from Calvin Klein, Coach,
Michael Kors and Cole Haan round out the selection in the
designer shoe salon and 29 new vendors have made their home on the
second floor, including French Sole’ Juicy Couture; L.A.M.B.;
La Fenice; Seven for All Mankind; and Truth or Dare by
Madonna, to name a few.
For the ultimate shoe shopping experience, The World’s Largest Shoe
Floor takes customers who love the thrill of finding great fashion
at a great price on a virtual shopping trip uptown, downtown and
throughout the Big Apple in the form of floor-to-ceiling clearance
closets designed with visual elements that salute New York City’s most
iconic neighborhoods. This global destination for fashionable footwear
will provide the intimate feel and elegance of a boutique shopping
experience with specially-designed LED lighting and custom architectural
details unique to the signature style of each brand. The new shoe floor
features styles that range in price from $49 to $1,600 and sizes 5-12.
Though the footprint is monumental, cutting-edge technological features
ease and enhance the shoe shopping experience on The World’s Largest
Shoe Floor. The brand-new Macy’s Herald Square app will
assist customers in navigating the Shoe Salon, as well as the rest of
Macy’s Herald Square, seamlessly. State-of-the-art mobile scanning
devices provide detailed product information, enabling sales associates
to determine the availability of a given size and style instantaneously
and 21 LCD monitors and four LED screens add dramatic impact throughout
the shoe floor, dazzling and inspiring customers with a visual
interpretation of key trends, brands and styles, as well as Macy's
iconic brand imagery.
Finally, the Herald Square Café serves as a stylish accessory to the
ultimate shoe shopping experience with rare varieties of Starbucks
Reserve coffees, champagne from the celebrated cellars of Moët &
Chandon, exquisite, hand-crafted chocolates by Vosges Haut-Chocolat, and
a specially-curated assortment of menu items. Visitors to the intimate,
45-seat, 1,434 square-foot, custom-designed café step into a sleek and
chic environment of heritage marble with modern wood accents and
dramatic lighting, bringing a touch of warmth to the space. Curved
banquettes upholstered in cream and gun-metal gray elegantly follow the
perimeter of the dining space providing inviting seating vignettes. A
grand clock serves as a striking focal point overlooking the communal
“champagne tasting table.” This clock has been fashioned in the mirror
image of the original timepiece which overlooks Broadway Boulevard and
has been keeping time for busy New Yorkers since the filming of “Miracle
on 34th Street.” Natural light illuminates the second floor
space through the majestic historic windows which have been renovated
and made visible to the public for the first time in decades.
Holiday 2012 will bring in the final phase of the Shoe Salon’s
transformation as Macy’s Herald Square debuts multi-level shops by Louis
Vuitton, Gucci, and Burberry, which open into the
stunning new space on 2. Each luxury store is easily accessible via a
dedicated elevator from the Main Floor.
