Several dignitaries and community leaders participated in the dedication, to include: The Honorable Betsy Price, Mayor of Fort Worth; The Honorable Kelly Hancock, Texas State Senator for District 9; The Honorable Stephanie Klick, Texas State Representative for District 91; and The Honorable Jonathan Stickland, Texas State Representative for District 92.

"We are proud of our community, and take to heart our role as responsible stewards of the local environment," said Craig Mikolajchak, general manager of Republic Services in Fort Worth. "Innovation in recycling and waste solutions has arrived in the Metroplex. This facility will provide our customers and community with more efficient, clean and safe recycling options, and much needed capacity."

The new MRF collects and processes all plastics marked 1 through 7, paper products, cardboard, glass, aluminum, and other materials. The facility utilizes a highly-automated Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system, which enables facility operators to continually monitor the materials sorting process, move 35 tons of materials per hour, and automate the baling and storage of finished commodities. It has the capacity to sort and process incoming materials, and ship finished commodities to domestic and international markets.

There are approximately 40 full-time employees working at the new complex. In addition, the complex offers a unique Learning Center for the community to visit, experience a rare, up-close view of the recycling process, and learn more about recycling and sustainability issues.
