| Bally Gaming And Systems Named As Partner In First Microsoft® Windows® Xp Embedded Rapid Development Program | LAS VEGAS, April 11, 2001 - Alliance Gaming Corp. (Nasdaq: ALLY) announced today that its Bally Gaming and Systems business unit has been selected by the Microsoft Corp. as a partner in the first Windows XP Embedded Rapid Development Program.
In joining the likes of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, National Semiconductor Corp., SCM Microsystems Inc., Siemens AG and Toshiba TEC, Bally Gaming and Systems will participate in the program that is "designed to gather in-depth technical feedback from industry partners and customers that are actively developing products and services on the current and future beta versions of Microsoft® Windows XP Embedded," according to a news release issued by Microsoft on Tuesday.
Bally's new Evolution Series (EVO™) slot machine platform currently utilizes the Windows NT® Embedded operating system, but plans are in place to move to XP Embedded, formerly code-named "Whistler Embedded," when it becomes available later this year.
"The inclusion of Bally in Microsoft's Rapid Development Program gives us early access to the technology of the future and provides our engineering team with an enhanced level of support as our platform evolves," said Robert Miodunski, President and Chief Operating Officer of Alliance Gaming.
EVO, developed utilizing Microsoft consulting services to maximize the effectiveness of the Windows NT Embedded operating system, creates an environment capable of rapid game development and advanced video and audio capabilities. The integrity of EVO is protected by a proprietary security architecture developed by Bally Gaming. EVO will provide a single software and hardware solution for all combinations of video and mechanical reel games.
