Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
|Martin Craighead is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Baker Hughes Incorporated. Craighead joined Baker Hughes in 1986, and during his career with the company, he has had various technical and operational leadership responsibilities throughout the Americas and the Asia Pacific region, including three years as Group President of the Drilling and Evaluation business unit.|
Craighead holds the International Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum and natural gas engineering from the Pennsylvania State University. He is the recipient of the 2015 Alumni Fellow Award at Penn State and the 2010 C. Drew Stahl Distinguished Achievement Award at Penn State.
President, Global Operations
Belgacem Chariag is President, Global Operations for Baker Hughes Incorporated. In this role, he leads the company’s global operations organization, which is responsible for driving world-class operational performance, exceptional service and sales execution, as well as delivering strong operating profits throughout Baker Hughes’ footprint.
Prior to his current role, Chariag was Vice President and Chief Integration Officer for Baker Hughes, leading the company’s integration efforts during its proposed acquisition by Halliburton. Previously, he was President, Global Products and Services for Baker Hughes. He served as President of the company’s Eastern Hemisphere operations from 2009 until 2013.
Before joining Baker Hughes, Chariag was Vice President, Health, Safety, Environment, and Security for Schlumberger. He also was President of the Well Services business line, and Marketing Vice President for Europe, Caspian, and Africa. Chariag held a variety of leadership and management positions for the company, including Managing Director in Egypt, East Africa, and the East Mediterranean geomarket, as well as a variety of management, field operations, and technical support positions in Angola, Tunisia, the UAE, and Qatar.
Chariag earned a Master of Business Administration degree in global energy from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas.
Vice President and Chief Information Officer
|Archana (Archie) Deskus is Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of Baker Hughes Incorporated. She previously served as Vice President and CIO for Ingersoll-Rand and has more than two decades of experience in the aerospace, industrials, and consumer products industries. She worked at United Technologies for 19 years with positions of increasing responsibility, including Executive Director, Infrastructure and E-Business at Pratt & Whitney, and Vice President and CIO at Carrier North America. She also worked as Senior Vice President and CIO for Timex Corporation. |
Deskus earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration/management information systems from Boston University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Vice President, Health, Safety, and Environment
Jack Hinton is Vice President, Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) at Baker Hughes. With 38 years of experience, he is widely known across the industry for his insights into strategic directions that yield efficiency, effectiveness and step-change. Before Hinton joined Baker Hughes in 2005, he was a dean and professor at the Kazakhstan Institute of Management, Economics, and Strategic Research for two years. He previously spent 26 years at Texaco serving in leadership roles that included Director, Environment Health and Safety and Vice President, International Petroleum.
He presently sits on the Management Committee of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP), the board of the Center for Offshore Safety, is a member of the Kazakh-British Technical University Business School Advisory Board and serves as Chairman on the Board of Advisors for the Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health.Hinton holds a Doctorate degree in occupational health and a Master of Science degree in environmental sciences both from the University of Texas. He also received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and chemistry from Trevecca Nazarene University. He is a diplomate of the American Academy of Industrial Hygiene.
Chief Human Resources Officer
|Murali Kuppuswamy is Chief Human Resources Officer for Baker Hughes Incorporated. He has more than 30 years of HR management experience, serving in HR vice president roles for Baker Hughes since 2011 in Europe, Africa, and Russia Caspian, and earlier for the Global Products and Services organization. From 1993 to 2011, Kuppuswamy worked at General Electric (GE), where he held various leadership roles in the US and India, including HR leader for GE’s Global Technology organization, HR leader for GE India, and in various Sales and Manufacturing Quality roles. Prior to GE, he worked with Tata Group and RPG in India. |
Kuppuswamy earned an undergraduate degree in finance and a postgraduate degree in management from XLRI. He also has been actively associated with nonprofit organizations engaged in providing access to quality education to underprivileged children in the US and India.

Vice President and General Counsel
|William D. Marsh is Vice President and General Counsel of Baker Hughes Incorporated. Before this appointment, he was Vice President of Legal, Western Hemisphere and Director of Enterprise Risk Strategies. Marsh joined Baker Hughes in 1998 and has served in various executive, legal, and corporate roles. During his professional career, Marsh was a partner with the law firm of Ballard Spahr LLP representing clients in the areas of corporate, finance, and securities laws. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Brigham Young University.|
Chief Commercial Officer
|Derek Mathieson is Chief Commercial Officer for Baker Hughes Incorporated, responsible for leading the commercial growth strategy for the company, including developing alternate sales channels for Baker Hughes products and technology, and leading future business incubation efforts. Prior to his current role, Mathieson was the company’s Vice President, Chief Technology and Marketing Officer. His previous positions at Baker Hughes include Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer; President, Western Hemisphere; and President, Products and Technology. He joined Baker Hughes in 2008 from WellDynamics Incorporated, where he served as Chief Executive Officer. His oil and gas career also includes roles at Shell Exploration & Production and Wood Group in the United Kingdom. |
Mathieson earned a Ph.D. in micro electro-mechanical systems and a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, and was awarded an honorary doctorate in engineering from that institution. He is a chartered engineer with the United Kingdom Engineering Council, a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and an active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
|Kimberly Ross is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Baker Hughes Incorporated. Ross joined Baker Hughes in 2014 from Avon Products Incorporated, where she served as Executive Vice President and CFO. Prior to her association with Avon, Ross served as Executive Vice President and CFO of Royal Ahold N.V. from 2007 to 2011 and held various other finance positions from 2001 to 2007. From 1995 to 2001 Ross worked at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, a producer of distilled spirits and wines and operator of entertainment businesses, where she held management roles in audit and treasury with a primary focus on emerging markets. Earlier in her career, she worked at the accounting firm Ernst & Young and Anchor Glass Container Corporation. |
Ross earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from the University of South Florida and became a certified public accountant after graduation. She serves on the board of directors and the audit committee of Chubb Limited.
President, Products and Technology
Arthur (Art) Soucy is President, Products and Technology for Baker Hughes Incorporated. He is responsible for the global product line organizations that lead technology commercialization and investment strategy. He is also responsible for the chemical and industrial services division, quality, supply chain, marketing and procurement.
In prior roles at Baker Hughes, Soucy served as President, Europe, Africa and Russia Caspian, President, Global Products and Services and Vice President, Supply Chain.
Before joining Baker Hughes, Soucy was Vice President, Global Supply Chain for Pratt & Whitney and previously held a variety of leadership roles in both technology and global supply chain.
Soucy earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from Lesley University in Massachusetts.
Senior Advisor, Executive Leadership Team
|Richard Williams serves as Senior Advisor on the Executive Leadership Team at Baker Hughes Incorporated, with a critical role in implementing high-level organizational transitions aligned with the company’s business simplification and restructuring efforts. He helps to ensure the company implements these changes while maintaining the highest standards of operational performance and continuing to meet all of its customer commitments. Prior to his current role, Williams was President, North America for Baker Hughes. He previously served as President of the US Land and Gulf of Mexico regions. Since joining Baker Hughes in 1975, he has held positions of increasing responsibility, including executive roles in operations for the Completions and Drilling Fluids product lines, and has provided a broad base of global experience across the hydrocarbon asset life cycle.|
Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix and an Associate of Science degree in petroleum technology from Lincoln College. He is a member of the Center for Offshore Safety, National Ocean Industries Association, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Independent Petroleum Association of America, and Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association.
