SUNNYVALE, Calif. & LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 15, 2008--Applied Micro Circuits Corporation's 3ware(R) storage division (NASDAQ:AMCC) will showcase its award-winning 3ware 9690SA SAS RAID controller in a live in-booth demonstration at this week's VMworld Conference. Visitors to Booth #340 will learn how to effectively deliver the benefits of high performance serial RAID technology to virtualized applications.

The in-booth product demonstration will feature a 3ware 9690SA-8I SAS controller connected to 16 Seagate(R) SAS drives in a Supermicro 836EL1 enclosure. The demonstration will feature two virtual machines: a Windows(R) virtual machine running an SQL I/O stress database simulator to generate I/O activity while performing Snapshot Backups of the data with a Linux(R) virtual machine independently performing web hosting operations.

WHAT: AMCC demonstrates 3ware SAS RAID controller and shows visitors how to leverage RAID and virtualization technologies to control their IT infrastructures, gain data protection and maintain performance by reducing server sprawl and platform dependencies.
