Globecomm Expands Global Network with Greater Fiber Capacity and Points-of-Presence

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Aug 31, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM), a leading global provider of satellite-based communications infrastructure solutions and services, has quadrupled its points-of-presence (PoP) and teleport facilities, enabling telecommunications service providers to enhance and simplify connectivity requirements around the globe.

Our expanded network is built on industry standard fiber optic connectivity that supports state-of-the-art communications for Globecomm and its subsidiaries. This includes the network expansion of Globecomm's subsidiary, Carrier 2 Carrier telecom, and a new PoP in New York.

Equipped with state-of-the-art resilient switches and routers, the Globecomm network is implemented in a distributed and a local peering architecture with major tier 1 exchanges and providers.

Globecomm customers now have the ability to select virtually any carrier with a local presence at any of our locations to be part of the Globecomm network.

This advancement further enhances Globecomm's robust, secure global network through major terrestrial peering points and PoP located in the United States, Europe and Asia.
