Globecomm's Transportable SatCell PowersSTPR Motorsport Rally

Indigo Wireless Taps Globecomm's transportable GSM Network for Event

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., Jun 04, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM), a leading global provider of satellite-based communications infrastructure solutions and services, announced today that Indigo Wireless, a rural wireless operator with service areas in Pennsylvania and Nebraska, will be using Globecomm's Transportable SatCell trailer to power a wireless network at this weekend's STPR Motorsport Rally in Pennsylvania.

The event is an off-road vehicle rally which stops in remote Germania, PA where current coverage is limited. Globecomm will work with Indigo Wireless to set up its GSM SatCell trailer in Germania to provide additional GSM coverage in this area.

SatCell Instant Wireless is an integrated satellite terminal and wireless base station, housed in a trailer mounted enclosure for rapid deployment of cellular voice and data services. With the addition of a mast or other mobile antenna, it provides a fully operable network node that can be moved to any strategic location and set up and activated within an hour. The SatCell unit can operate as an island of coverage or be interconnected with other terminals to form a wide-area network.

Dave Tews, Vice President of Indigo Wireless, said: "We're excited to be the exclusive wireless provider for the STPR Rally and anticipate increased traffic as spectators and participants share their experiences during the event via cell, text, and social networks. Globecomm's transportable SatCell unit will enable us to continue to provide fast, reliable cellular service that our customers have come to expect."

Andy Silberstein, Vice President and General Manager of Globecomm Services, said: "We work with Indigo Wireless to provide managed network services using our 3G switch, so adding the SatCell unit is a natural extension of our capabilities. Our transportable SatCell trailer enables carriers like Indigo Wireless to expand the capability of their cellular networks in order to meet increased demand around high traffic events."
