Henry Schein Cares International Veterinary Community Service Award Bestowed Upon Dr. Ross Blanks At World Small Animal Veterinary Association Conference

Award honors Veterinarian's outstanding contribution to society in the face of adversity

MELVILLE, N.Y., March 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein Cares, the global corporate social responsibility program of Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, medical and animal health practitioners, bestowed the Henry Schein Cares International Veterinary Community Service Award upon Dr. Ross Trevor Blanks.  The award was presented at the World Small Animal Veterinary Association Conference in Auckland, New Zealand on March 7 by Lonnie Shoff, President and Chief Executive Officer, Global Animal Health and Strategic Partnerships, Henry Schein, Inc.

The award honored Dr. Blanks' exceptional work as a management coordinator for the veterinary emergency response team and a member of the management team that established the animal welfare response center in the aftermath of the catastrophic February 2011 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The Henry Schein Cares International Veterinary Community Service Award, created by Nigel Nichols, Chief Executive Officer, Provet Group, and John Maclachlan, Member of Provet's Advisory Board and Past President of the New Zealand Veterinary Association, honors exceptional acts of valor and commitment by veterinarians in the face of adversity. Dr. Blanks will present the $5,000 check from Henry Schein Cares to the New Zealand Veterinary Emergency Response Team.
