Henry Schein Completes Acquisition of AUV Veterinary Services

MELVILLE, N.Y., May 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Henry Schein, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSIC), the world's largest provider of health care products and services to office-based dental, medical and animal health practitioners, announced today that on May 24, 2012 the Company completed its acquisition of AUV Veterinary Services B.V., the leading distributor serving animal health practitioners in the Netherlands and Belgium.  The purchase price was approximately $40 million.

AUV Veterinary Services was founded in 1969 by 100 veterinarians.  Today, it includes approximately 200 team members, with headquarters and a distribution center in the Netherlands, and another distribution center in Belgium.  AUV serves more than 2,000 large and small animal veterinarians, and had net sales for 2011 in excess of $270 million.
