 On September 27, 1972, AMD issued 620,000 shares of common stock (500,000 by the company and 120,000 by selling shareholders), over-the-counter, at $15.50 per share (or, $0.57, split adjusted 27:1 for the lifetime of the stock) raising a total of $7.5 million it its first public offering. AMD later debuted on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on October 15, 1979.
