|Webster Bank’s Bob Polito Amongst 2012 Community Bank Heroes|
WATERBURY, Conn., July 5, 2012 – Webster Bank is pleased to announce that Bob Polito, senior vice president, director of government guaranteed lending, has been named a Community Bank Hero by The Commercial Record. This award recognizes local bankers who have made outstanding contributions to the industry and to the community, giving freely of their time, energy and resources for volunteerism, community service and charity.

Bob has 25 years of banking experience. The recipient of numerous awards, in 2009, he was named the Veteran Business Champion of the Year by the Small Business Administration’s Connecticut District Office. He was recently elected president of the SBA’s ‘CT Key to the Future,’ the SBA’s educational and business outreach non-profit entity. Bob is a former Army captain serving with Connecticut’s 1/102d & 1/169th Infantry Battalions as a company commander. He was twice awarded The Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal for exemplary behavior, efficiency, and fidelity while serving as a member of his Unit. He was selected as an Honorary Grand Marshal for the 2010 Greater Hartford Veteran’s Day Parade.
Bob will be honored at the 2012 Community Bank Heroes Awards dinner on Wednesday, July 18 at the Hartford Farmington Marriott. Presented by The Commercial Record, the Community Bank Hero honorees were chosen by an independent panel. To be eligible, an individual must work in a Connecticut community bank, be a respected industry professional who makes a significant impact on those around them, make outstanding contributions to their institution, have major positive influence on peers, subordinates, and the industry as a whole and gives back to the industry and the community.
