Newest ad for priceline.com Hotels Begins Airling This Week, Featuring William Shatner Singing "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"

NORWALK, Conn.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Feb. 1, 2000-- Do you hum Age of Aquarius for no apparent reason? Have you mastered the "Convoy punch" - a quick forward/back move with the right hand closed in a fist?

If the answer's yes, you've watched too many William Shatner priceline.com commercials on TV. But if you haven't seen the spots or, like most Shatner fans, can't get enough of them, here's some good news. Priceline.com is now featuring videos of its first four Shatner TV spots on the priceline.com Web site, including "Aquarius", "The King", "Two Tickets To Paradise" and, of course, "Convoy".

Priceline.com also announced today that a fifth commercial focused on priceline.com's hotel product, featuring Shatner and his back-up band covering The Animals' "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", began airing on national TV this week. In all, the campaign will feature 10 commercials, all with Shatner covering pop tunes from the '60s and '70s.

"We're pleased to offer these videos on the Web in response to the overwhelming number of requests we've received from priceline.com customers and William Shatner's fans," said Michael McCadden, priceline.com's chief marketing officer. "We hope that these commercials will whet people's appetites for the remaining five spots. These later spots were filmed last and promise to be even more over-the-top as Bill and the band really start to improvise and have fun."

To view the videos, go to www.priceline.com homepage and click the "news and events" icon. On the next screen, a button to display the Shatner ads will appear in the upper right. The videos are offered in RealPlayer and QuickTime formats for both Apple and Windows computers.

Attention trivia buffs - yes, you probably do recognize the members of William Shatner's backup band. Look closely and you'll see Helium's Mary Timoni on keyboard, and Carrie Brownstein from Sleater-Kinney on bass. Other band members include Eric Marshall on drums, Jeff Foster and Charles Gansa on guitar, and Harold Jones on flute. The spots were filmed at the Sony studios in Manhattan under music video director Phil Morrison.
