New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump Celebrate "Topping Off" of Tower Monday, March 31ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., March 31, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ -- Trump
Entertainment Resorts (Nasdaq: TRMP) celebrated a milestone today when the
final construction beam was put in place during a topping off ceremony held at
on the outdoor promenade of the new tower at Trump Taj Mahal.
New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine, along with Trump Entertainment Resorts,
Inc. Chairman Donald Trump, Board Member, Ivanka Trump, CEO Mark Juliano,
Trump Taj Mahal General Manager, Rosalind Krause, Atlantic City Mayor Scott
Evans, Melania Trump, and state, local government leaders, members of the
business sector and construction workers were on hand to watch as the final
beam was hoisted 420' high above the promenade and put into place, finalizing
the exterior construction phase of the project.
"This is a historic day for the Taj Mahal, as we keep our promise to
continue to invest in the future of the industry, by developing our property
into a year-round destination that the leisure and business traveler can
choose from," said Rosalind Krause, General Manager of Trump Taj Mahal. "Our
brand offers a multitude of experiences in our rooms, dining, entertainment,
shopping, amenities and much more."
As the tradition holds, the beam was signed by the Governor, Mr. Trump and
Ivanka Trump, Trump Executives, government leaders and many others in
attendance. The final beam was then raised to the top of the glistening tower,
accompanied by an evergreen tree, symbolizing new growth, and an American flag.
The new tower at Trump Taj Mahal is expected to open with approximately
400 rooms on the first twenty floors in early September 2008. An estimated 100
rooms will be added each month until all rooms are completed by the end of
December 2008.
"This is a critical investment for our company, as we upgrade our
facilities and expand our hotel capacity to create a destination-based model
and accommodate additional, higher value customers," said Mark Juliano, CEO of
Trump Entertainment Resorts, Inc. "The distinctive architectural design of the
tower was driven by the desire to create ocean and bay views from nearly every
vantage point while preserving land to develop future towers, and the
accommodations are being created to offer a true luxury resort experience."
The tower is planned to feature 782 guest rooms, including 74 suites. Four
of the suites will be luxury suites with the same style of amenities and
service available in The Penthouse Suites at the Taj Mahal.
All of the rooms in the new tower were designed with the business and
leisure traveler in mind. Larger rooms with higher ceilings and modern
bathrooms include double sinks recessed into Brazilian granite counter tops,
oversized walk-in showers with water closets in a separate room and other
amenities, which were planned to offer guests a luxurious residential
experience during their stay. Each room will be equipped with a 50" hi-
definition plasma TV, iPod(R) docking station, wireless internet access and
more.
Contemporary rooms will range in size from 425 square feet to 550 square
feet, with the majority of the rooms at approximately 480 square feet. Three
distinct standard room layouts will be available and each room will feature
upgraded comforts and amenities, including large bathrooms and the latest
technologies and trends. All rooms will be appointed with a desk, two chairs
and a concealed coffee service area, as well as pillow-top mattresses, premium
linens, a refrigerator and a safe.
Four layouts have been planned for the comfort of guests staying in the
new suites. The most common suite layout will feature a living room and dining
area, with one bedroom and private bath. They will range from 950 square feet
to 1,140 square feet and feature floor to ceiling windows for spectacular
views of the ocean. Each suite will also offer a powder room just off the
living room area, as well as a wet bar.
Eight suites will top off the tower at Trump Taj Mahal. Four of the
suites will contain one bedroom and range from 950 to 1,140 square feet. The
additional four suites will be two bedroom suites, with two suites measuring
2,100 square feet and the remaining two 1,850 square feet.
Three handsomely designed meeting rooms will be located in the tower at
Trump Taj Mahal, just off the elevator lobby. Each will contain approximately
1,200 square feet of space.
The tower will be connected to the original tower via the Spice Road level.
Guests will check in at the existing front desk and proceed to the second
level to access The tower at Trump Taj Mahal.
Approximately 200 additional staffing positions are planned to meet the
needs of the new tower, with the majority of them being hotel service team
members.
The principal architect for the tower at Trump Taj Mahal is The
Friedmutter Group of Las Vegas, NV, Joe Emanuele, Vice President, Atlantic
City Project Architect.
Interior design was spearheaded by Calvin Dix and Katie Adams of Hirsch
Bedner Associates located in Santa Monica, California. The color palette
consists of rich browns, golds and red tones, creating a warm and contemporary
atmosphere.
"We are excited to work with a casino hotel who wants to provide a
contemporary and elegant interior for their guest. Together, we have
meticulously planned every detail of the new tower, even designing a custom
door, which we thought was important as the guest experience begins at the
front door to the suite," noted Calvin Dix, interior designer with Hirsch
Bedner Associates. "The furniture and finish selections for the suites were
inspired by an 'Asian chic' concept which fuses the spice colors of India with
a contemporary clean line design. The granite counter tops sourced from Brazil
will be complimented by bright chrome accents and modern bath fittings,
creating an exotic and luxurious bathroom experience," he added.
Bovis Lend Lease is overseeing the construction of The tower. The group
has a presence in over 40 countries, headed by regional hubs in the UK,
Australia and the U.S. Key sectors include commercial, retail, residential,
communications, industrial and pharmaceutical.
The estimated total cost of construction is $255 million. For more
