11.What is LeCroy's competitive advantage?

LeCroy’s core competency is in the acquisition and analysis of complex electronic signals, including serial data analysis. Our expertise in this area is founded on the company’s heritage in high-energy physics research and its unique competency in the design of IC-based electronic signal acquisition systems. This expertise gives LeCroy a key competitive advantage in a market where the principal factor of competition is product performance, including bandwidth, sample rate, record length and processing power. Our proven ability to maintain and develop the advanced technology used in our signal acquisition and analysis products, as well as our ability to offer high-performance products at an attractive price-to-performance ratio, set us apart from our competitors.

Our test equipment products are also used in industries that are characterized by frequent new product introductions and in which underlying electronic signals are becoming more complex and difficult to analyze as data rate speeds grow significantly faster. As a technology innovator, LeCroy is better positioned than competitors to respond to these trends with advanced, high performance analysis tools that are fast, highly accurate, and cost effective.

This ability is evidenced in many of our product lines. For example, our WaveMaster® oscilloscopes integrate Silicon Germanium (SiGe) technology with our proprietary X-Stream architecture to show signals in greater detail and at speeds 10-100X faster than competitive products. Our newest line of CATC instruments, which offer advanced expert systems for digital communications standards such as Bluetooth, Fibre Channel, IEEE 1394, Infiniband, PCI Express, SCSI, Serial ATA, Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and USB, have become the de facto standard for testing and verification of serial data communications protocols.

Another area where LeCroy differentiates itself is in its unrivaled level of customization. Our test and measurement products are designed to allow engineers the unprecedented flexibility to create their own custom functions and parameters, design their own user interfaces, and develop and embed their own proprietary programs. These built-in capabilities enable LeCroy customers to shorten product time to market.

12.What products does LeCroy offer?
LeCroy offers five product families of high-performace oscilloscopes and Serial Data Analyzers (SDA's) - WaveExpert, WaveMaster, WavePro, WaveRunner and WaveSurfer. In addition to these products, through its Protocol Solutions Group, LeCroy now offers an array of protocol analysis solutions for Computer I/O and Storage & Networking.

13.What is LeCroy's growth strategy?
LeCroy's growth strategy is to capture an increasing share of the oscilloscope market by introducing superior oscilloscope tools at both the high and low eneds of the market, and to capitalize on the surging demand for serial data test instruments through the Company's Protocol Solutions Group.

14.Who are LeCroy's customers?
Major corporations, as well as hundreds of small and mid-sized companies around the world, use LeCroy test equipment and instruments. In the computer and semiconductor industry, our largest industry segment, the customers we serve include Intel, IBM, LSI Logic and Samsung. In data storage, another major sector, representative clients include Hitachi, Iomega, Maxtor, and Seagate Technologies. In automotive electronics, companies who have chosen LeCroy solutions include TRW, Bosch, Siemens, and Hyundai. Within these and many other industries, we primarily target our products to design engineers and research professionals.

15.How are LeCroy's products sold and distributed?
In the United States, Europe, Japan, and South Korea, LeCroy sells its products through a direct sales force that is highly skilled and trained, and exceedingly knowledgeable about our customers’ applications and requirements. We have regional sales offices in Chestnut Ridge, New York; Geneva, Switzerland; and Tokyo, Japan.

16.Who has LeCroy developed strategic alliances with and why?

LeCroy seeks strategic alliances with leading companies that can help us bring innovative, value added, and robust solutions to market. We value strategic alliances because of the opportunity they provide to extend our solutions portfolio through the integration of new and/or complementary technologies, to give our combined customer base a wider choice of technical options, and to enhance our mutual revenue and market influence. Strategic alliances have been and will continue to be an important part of our growth strategy.

We have partnered with companies like Iwatsu and Fluke Corporation to share technology and expand production and distribution capabilities. In addition, we have recently entered into an agreement with IBM to gain access to their next generation Silicon Germanium (SiGe) technology. The WaveMaster product family, our first using SiGe components, is a clear success. LeCroy believes that there is tremendous potential in the next generation SiGe technology.
