Capital One Names Steve Linehan Treasurer

MCLEAN, Va., May 6, 2003 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE: COF) announced today that Steve Linehan has been named Treasurer of Capital One.

In this role Linehan is responsible for Capital One's overall balance sheet management strategy and for coordinating its global funding and treasury operations across all lines of business. Additionally, Linehan manages relationships with the company's bank group and rating agencies as well as communications with the company's fixed income investors.

Linehan joined Capital One in 1997, where he began as Manager of Corporate Finance. Linehan was then promoted to Director of Corporate Funding in 1999, and in 2000 was named Vice President and Assistant Treasurer.

Prior to joining Capital One in 1997, Linehan spent eight years with the FDIC in Washington, D.C. where he served in a variety of roles as an Assistant Director, in both the Division of Resolutions and the Division of Insurance. Prior to his tenure at the FDIC, Linehan spent six years in the commercial banking and thrift industry primarily focused in the area of asset/liability management.

Linehan received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA from Loyola College in Maryland.
